Today

It was a wonderful day for us at Stake Conference.  I've never heard talks that were as good as General Conference talks.  I will try to summarize some.  The theme was on families.  Tim Cotter asked, "How do you want your family to remember you?"  "How do they remember you?"  Two different meanings.  Sometimes the kids have a whole different point of view of what we are saying and doing then what we hope to achieve.

Most talks including the important of Family Home Evenings, family meal time, family prayers and family scriptures.  These are such simple things to do, but they must become a habit.  Children will grow up stronger and more grounded if we do these things.  Our little children are NOT facing what the ideal childhood that you did in many cases.  They will be faced with with issues beyond their tender years.

A sister told a story of going on a river excursion on a raft.  She was on the easy, slowing going raft.  But she wasn't told that the driver of the raft was inexperienced.  Sure enough, they hit a huge rapid and she was trapped beneath the raft.  She was full of terror and managed to get out from under the raft only to be racing down the river at full speed.  She was fighting for her life, when her husband showed up in a kayak next to her and extended the oar.  This experience still frightens her to speak about it.  She warned of the danger of "going with the flow" and not knowing the course or our pilot.  She warned of dangers ahead and kept repeating not to "go with flow" but to follow the course set out for us.

Heavenly Father counts one by one and knows us each individually.  We were counseled to not just to teach our children, but to teach them to understand.

Finally we were taught the important of family history work.  The work of salvation.  We were taught to preserve and protect our photographs by scanning them and adding them to our family history online.  Stories and lessons can be learned just by looking at photos.
